UK pressure relief specialist Rober has a history of helping patients around the globe to be pressure ulcer free. After recently exhibiting its pioneering cost effective AirFlex® range at Medical Fair Asia, the company is delighted to be featured in the latest edition of Medical Device Asia.
The article explains how Rober, who design and manufactures all their products in Chesterfield, have designed a new cost effective mattress range AirFlex®, to fulfil the requirements of ‘affordable healthcare’.
The AirFlex® mattress range offers vulnerable patients complete pressure elimination at regular intervals, thus preventing pressure ulcers from occurring.
The pioneering technology also includes therapeutic properties, which help to heal existing injuries. It also supports nursing teams and helps them to better manage their patients, saving valuable time and resources.
AirFlex also uses clinically proven technology, which responds to a patient’s weight, spontaneous movement pattern and body position to provide enhanced comfort.
The ‘wave-like, ripple effect’ allows the body weight of the patient to be distributed evenly creating a soft, comfortable yet stable surface that does not compromise on clinical outcomes.
Tissue damage occurs when continuous pressure or friction is placed on an area of the body. Essentially, local pressure stops blood from flowing normally, leading the cells to die and the skin to break down. Pressure ulcers are painful and troublesome for patients and their treatment can be lengthy, difficult and expensive. Yet prevention is better than cure and the ‘Stop the Pressure’ campaign estimates that between 80% and 95% are avoidable.
